“I’ve always wanted to be teacher, even before I started school myself! I loved school and wanted everyone to have that same amazing experience that I did. After school I’d go home and set up all my dolls and teddies and teach them what I had learned at school that day. No one in my family had ever been a teacher before or even been to university- I was the first one. After completing my A Levels I spent four fantastic years at Cambridge studying for a BEd Geography with Education before starting my teaching career. I’ve always been a teacher and can’t imagine doing anything else. Just over two years ago I joined Harrow as LS Deputy Head. I love my job- no two days are ever the same, but that makes it exciting. We are a great team here at Harrow and it is a privilege to be part of that. For me education is all about making those connections with students, parents and staff. It is also fantastic to be able to experience living in Beijing and exploring this vibrant city and China more widely- I feel like I’ve barely started exploring, there is so much more to see and do.”

A child’s growth depends on the joint efforts of both school and family. At Harrow Beijing, we have always walked hand in hand with parents, creating a nurturing and caring environment that paves the way for a brighter future for our students.
On this year’s Teacher’s Day, Friends of Harrow thoughtfully organized a heartwarming celebration. They prepared ice cream, coffee, snacks, and flowers for all the staff, making the teachers feel the deep support from the parents.
“Every teacher is a beacon guiding students towards a bright future. The purpose behind the Friends of Harrow organizing this Teacher’s Day event was not only to express gratitude but also to convey a deep sense of respect and admiration. We thank the teachers for their extraordinary love and responsibility, which bring about every bit of progress and growth in the students on ordinary days. During the preparation, as we arranged items and coordinated details, we were also thinking about how to truly convey these warm gestures to every teacher. Each parent involved in the preparation felt that this was more than just organizing a beautiful event—it was an expression of emotion, a shared sense of responsibility for the children’s growth. Seeing the teachers set aside their fatigue, enjoying a moment of tranquility and joy amidst their busy schedules, filled us with warmth and gratitude.
