Harrow Ducker

On a clear autumn day,

Harrow Ducker started again!

Harrow Beijing’s students, teachers, and parents ran together, embodying the relentless spirit and energy that Harrow stands for!

The Educational Heritage and Spirit of Harrow School

Harrow Beijing inherits the essence of education from Harrow School in the UK, committed to helping students achieve academic excellence and comprehensive development. As a classic sports event with a long history in Harrow, Harrow Ducker was established in commemoration of the founder of Harrow School, John Lyon. At Harrow School, people run along a road built by John Lyon, starting from the Marble Arch in central London on Harrow Road, all the way to Harrow School. To continue this tradition, Harrow Beijing and other overseas member schools hold this activity every year. Harrow Ducker aims to encourage members of the school community to exercise, challenge themselves, and strengthen their minds. During the event, students will internalize the core values of Harrow’s education through sports, continuing the spirit of Harrow with their own footsteps.

This year’s Harrow Ducker is not just a contest of speed and endurance; it also serves as an engagement with nature. This year, the event is not open host in Harrow Beijing Campus, but also held at Heli Qidi Park, integrating sports with environmental conservation. Participants experienced the harmonious coexistence of humanity and nature as they ran. We also hope that through this event, we can encourage students’s attention to ecological protection and actively promote the principles of sustainable development through their actions.

Harrow Beijing follows the British House system. In Harrow Ducker, students represent their House on the racecourse, and the running scores of each participant are included in the House points. The House with the highest cumulative score earns the final honor. Students earn honor for their collective efforts and celebrate their achievements with members. This is the best manifestation of collective honor, where students focus on participation and work together with a spirit of mutual assistance for collective success.

In this activity that blends competition and participation, Harrow Ducker unites every member of the Harrow Beijing community. We would like to extend our special thanks to the parent volunteers for their tremendous support. Together, we foster a positive school community with a spirit of humility and mutual assistance.
