Sixth Form for students aged 16 – 18

A Level is a two-year programme that develops arguably the deepest subject knowledge of any curriculum in the world. A Levels are recognized by universities and employers worldwide, giving students the broadest range of options for their ongoing education and career. At Harrow Beijing we offer the following A Levels: Art, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Science, Design Technology, Economics, Mandarin, Further Mathematics, English Literature, Geography, History, Mathematics, Media Studies, Music, Physics, Psychology and Theatre Studies. We also offer Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), LAMDA, Duke of Edinburgh Award and Sports Leadership Award. A Levels are written and administered by several examination boards, and at Harrow Beijing, we are accredited to offer the specifications that best suit our student cohort. Our Heads of Department regularly review the different options available to ensure that we are providing the most relevant learning experience for our students.

University and Career Guidance

Students receive advice on careers and university choices starting in Year 9 through to Year 13. In Year 11 advice is given on A Level subject selection focusing on potential career choices and degrees that create a pathway to that career choice. Our team is headed by experienced professional counsellors who have many years’ experience helping students apply to the UK, USA and the rest of the world. This experience, coupled with the personal knowledge of each student developed by the Tutor and House Leader, allows us to guide each student towards a personalized outcome that is exactly right for them.

In Term 2 of Year 12, students begin the application process. Students meet for lecture-style lessons for general information twice a week. The sessions include how to apply to the UK, USA, Canada, Hong Kong and the rest of the world. Each student is assigned a counsellor with whom they will work with throughout the process. The counsellors schedule weekly sessions with their students and invite parents into meetings once in Term 2 and Term 3 or more often if necessary.
