The Training Program for 100 Internationally Excellent Teachers in Chaoyang District Successfully Concludes

To implement the 14th Five-Year Education Development Plan of Chaoyang District, Beijing, further advance training to enhance international competencies, and strengthen the development of internationally oriented key teaching talent, the Chaoyang District Teacher Development Institute launched the ‘Training Program for 100 Internationally Excellent Teachers’.

As a leading representative of outstanding international schools in Chaoyang District, Harrow Beijing has long collaborated with the Beijing and Chaoyang District Teacher Development Institutes, providing international education support for teacher training. To cultivate educational and technological talent with a global perspective, 100 internationally excellent seed teachers were selected for training, aligning with Chaoyang District’s educational development goals. This year, Harrow Beijing hosted the program’s opening ceremony and undertook the training of 20 teachers. These teachers came from Beijing No. 80 High School, Beijing Chen Jinglun High School, Beijing Chaoyang Foreign Language School, and other primary and secondary schools in Chaoyang District.

On October 22, 2024, the opening ceremony of the training program at Harrow Beijing was attended by a distinguished group, including: Ms. Shen Xinyi, Deputy Director of the Chaoyang District Education Commission; Ms. Xie Juan, Dean of the Chaoyang District Teacher Development Institute; Dr. Wang Xiaoling of the Beijing Institute of Education; Ms. Xia Wenqin, Section Chief of the International Cooperation and Exchange Section of the Chaoyang District Education Commission; Ms. Lu Ran, Deputy Section Chief of the International Cooperation and Exchange Section of the Chaoyang District Education Commission; Ms. Wang Xin, Deputy Section Chief of the Personnel Section of the Chaoyang District Education Commission; Ms. Guo Na, Director of the External Exchange Center of the Teacher Development Institute; Mr. Philip Akerman, Head of Harrow Beijing; Ms. Zhao Fang, Deputy Head – Chinese Education, Community and Wider Curriculum; SLT members Dr. Tina Stephenson and Mrs. Gao Han; educators from 11 international schools in Chaoyang District; and all 100 participating teachers.

Remarks at the event were delivered by Ms. Shen Xinyi, Mr. Philip Akerman, Dr. Tina Stephenson, and Dr. Wang Xiaoling.

Since the program’s launch, Harrow Beijing and Chaoyang District Teacher Development Institute have closely collaborated, leveraging Harrow Beijing’s strengths in international education. The senior leadership team carefully designed the course content, inviting experienced educators and frontline teachers to deliver lectures and provide guidance.

By incorporating the latest concepts in international education, the training program facilitated in-depth discussions and exchanges on various topics, including teaching methods, curriculum design, and student development.

During the training, participating teachers engaged in Harrow Beijing’s classrooms, attended three thematic sessions, and observed 288 lessons taught by 33 teachers across more than 10 LS and US subjects. Through diverse courses and interactive activities, the teachers not only broadened their international perspectives but also deepened their understanding and application of modern educational concepts.

At the closing ceremony on November 28, Ms. Zhao Fang, Deputy Head – Chinese Education, Community and Wider Learning, and Mr. Peter Lynch, Assistant Head – Safeguarding & Pupil Safety, represented Harrow Beijing to congratulate the teachers who completed the training and present certificates of completion. Mr. Hou Kai, Deputy Director of the External Exchange and Training Center at the Chaoyang District Teacher Development Institute, also attended the ceremony and expressed gratitude to Harrow Beijing for its strong support of the ‘100 Internationally Excellent Teachers in Chaoyang District’ training program.

On the same day, all participating teachers showcased their training achievements. They shared that the program had been highly rewarding, enhancing their teaching techniques and offering new perspectives on future educational models and student development. Many participants praised the teachers from Harrow Beijing for their sincerity, patience, and meticulous attention to details, noting that the course content was both enriching and thought-provoking

Beyond the classroom experience, the participants appreciated the thoughtfully designed learning environment at Harrow Beijing. The interactions between teachers and students, both inside and outside the classroom, deeply impressed participants and reflected Harrow Beijing’s educational philosophy. Teachers remarked, “Every student is seen and respected,” “Teachers place great importance on nurturing students’ curiosity,” and “Harrow Beijing’s education shines in its attention to detail.”

Through four days of immersive experiences, the participating teachers gained a deep understanding of Harrow Beijing’s holistic education philosophy of ‘Educational Excellence for Life and Leadership’. Many wrote heartfelt letters of gratitude, expressing sincere respect and appreciation for Harrow Beijing’s educators.

The successful conclusion of this training program marks a further strengthening of the collaboration between Harrow Beijing and the Chaoyang District Teacher Development Institute, laying a solid foundation for the continued internationalization of education in Chaoyang District. Looking ahead, Harrow Beijing remains committed to the philosophy of ‘Education First, Global Perspective’, striving for deeper collaboration with the Chaoyang education community and supporting more teachers in reaching new heights in international education.
